I recently started watching "This is Us" and I have to say, Dan Fogleman has done an incredible job of capturing the complexities of life and showcasing the impact of choices on a family. This show doesn't shy away from addressing real-life topics, so be sure to keep some Kleenex nearby if you're a crier like me.
Every episode seems to touch on something personal, which makes it even more relatable. While there are many things I could write about in relation to this show, I wanted to share a spoiler alert from the season premiere of season 5. In this episode, Beth has a conversation with Randall about tragedy and she shares a powerful expression her father taught her for dealing with painful events that are beyond our control. It really left a lasting impression on me. "It's the tragedies that define our lives. They are the fence posts on which the rest of our lives hang." -Beth
We all have those moments in life that shake us to our core, and looking back, we can say, "That was a tough one, but I got through it." Beth's words about tragedies defining our lives and serving as the fence posts on which the rest of our lives hang really resonated with me. It made me wonder if resilience is like medicine from a higher power to help us cope with the inevitable challenges in this world.
No matter what you are going through, the world keeps going, and you can choose to stay in the dark or search for the meaning in the light. If you need to talk to someone about your search, I am here. I'll be forthcoming to share that coaching won't give you the answers, but I'll take that road trip with you. I'll be in passenger side, helping you get to wherever you want to go. And I would be honored.
